Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS)
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), is a disabling illness. It is partly a diagnosis by exclusion and therefore not always easy to make. No treatment has yet been found, which is extremely frustrating for patients suffering from this illness. This does not mean patients cannot improve or even recover. However, because of controversies on how to treat ME/CFS over the last decade, some patients or providers are not always aware of the latest developments and this is where we can help.
Dr Scheffer provides specialist care for patients with (suspected) ME/CFS, by taking the time needed to make a diagnosis and discuss treatment options with the patient. A specialist letter will go back to your GP who can support you further, or if preferred you can make a follow up appointment.
Consultation fees
Private insurance might cover part of the fees. If you are on a benefit, WINZ may reimburse fees as part of your disability allowance. Currently, we are NOT a Southern Cross affiliated provider.
Fees are (from 1 April 2026), inclusive of GST:
– Initial Telehealth consultation: $375.00
– Follow up Telehealth consultation: $250.00
– Email consultation (time dependent): $35.00-105.00
– Repeat Script: $ 40.00
